Dorfman Doctoral Student Support Award

Purpose

WRIA has named its doctoral student support award in honor of the memory of former WRIA President Mark Dorfman who passed away in December, 2006

This competitive award is given to doctoral students who present their research at a WRIA annual meeting.  This award would be in addition to the waiver of the registration fee received by all doctoral students presenting at the conference.

Application Process and Timeline

Interested applicants should send a proposal to the Program Chair as outlined in the Call for Papers for the Annual Meeting.  Dorfman Award submissions should be in by the prescribed deadline.  In that submission, students should state their desire to be considered for the Dorfman Award.  Completed papers are encouraged for the Dorfman Award submissions due to the competitive nature of the award.

WRIA will verify the current enrolment status of the doctoral student prior to making decisions.

A WRIA Board committee will assess the applicants in conjunction with the normal proposal review process.

Applicants will be notified prior to the meeting regarding the outcome of the competition.  Please note that to receive the award, successful applicants must attend and present their research at the WRIA Annual Meeting.

Please contact the President-Elect of WRIA with any additional questions.  Contact information is provided on the main page.
